Hotels Vienna Austria. Where to stay in Vienna, which are the best places to stay in my hometown? This page bundles my personal shortlists of the best hotels and apartments by category I would use if I was a tourist in my city.
What Part Of Vienna Is Best To Stay In?
The best area to stay in Vienna, if you are short on time, is the city center, or first district. Since key attractions and best restaurants cluster in the 'Innenstadt' you will never be more than five minutes walk from a town palace, top museum, elegant boulevard, gourmet eatery or romantic alley. To get to know Vienna's best central neighborhoods opt for hotels in Josefstadt, Neubau, parts of Mariahilf and Wieden. They are also cheaper than those in city center spots. Indicated regular room rates for the categories below are per night based on two people in a double room. Search hotel by location: Click on the map below to search for hotel deals by location.

Where To Avoid Staying In Vienna?
Vienna remains extremely safe for tourists, especially in zones 1-9 which most tourists frequent. However, they have been transforming into more tourist-friendly areas over the years. The areas mentioned below are more about avoiding inconvenience and choosing better locations rather than serious safety concerns, as Vienna consistently ranks among the world's safest cities.
Favoriten District (10th District): It's advisable to avoid staying in the Favoriten district, particularly around Reumannplatz, which can be less recommendable for tourists, especially at night due to a slightly higher crime rate and a rougher atmosphere after dark.
Ottakring District (16th District): Similarly, the area around Wien Ottakring station might appear problematic, and it is advisable to be cautious, particularly in areas around the Ottakring U-Bahn station and Gürtel Street, especially at night.
Other Outer Districts: It's also advisable to be extra cautious in the outer districts of Ottakring (16th), Favoriten (10th), and Simmering (11th) late at night. These areas have occasionally been noted for higher crime rates.
Red Light Districts: Furthermore, without being dangerous neighborhoods, I must mention among the areas to avoid, especially at night, the two red light districts, along the Gürtel ring road and in Stuwerviertel. That said, some areas along the Gürtel have developed into a central mile of Vienna's nightlife with legitimate entertainment venues.
Some Prater Areas: The only area at night, still dusk, I perked up more in terms of situational awareness was around the Prater area
