General Map Of Vienna

Map of Vienna. Google Maps are still unbeatable when it comes to spotting attractions, restaurants, hotels, and other points of interest. My favourite feature are the directions. First, choose your starting point, then click on the blue arrow 'Directions' and choose your destination. You can explore var

How the city map works: Zoom in or out to orientate yourself, using the Zoom function on the top right. In the top right part of the map you see the Danube, and in the middle of the map you should see a round shaped enclosure - that is the inner city, and the almost circle shaped purple line around it is the Ring boulevard (Ringstrasse). You will probably want to start your orientation from there as this is where most attractions are located.

Mapped Out Walking Routes

To explore Vienna through self-guided walks in the City Centre and central neighborhoods, use the mapped out walking routes that come with each described walk in Vienna Walks.

Renting A Car And Driving in Vienna

If you like the idea of driving in Vienna the easiest way to orientate yourself is by using a satellite navigation system. In fact, all the major car rental firms offer those. I have put together a car rental Vienna guide that also includes driving and parking tips in Vienna.

Printed Maps of Vienna

Map of Vienna.  The Streetwise Map is just simple and useful. It's laminated, therefore hard-wearing, can be accordion-folded and fits easily into your pocket. The map covers the area of main Vienna in 1:10,000 which is likely all you need if you are planning a city break. The map includes a metro map and a street directory.

The Knopf MapGuide slices Vienna in six districts and maps: Stephansdom; Freyung/ Hofburg; Ring/ Josefstadt/ Alsergrund; Leopoldstadt/ Prater; Karlsplatz/ Wienzeile/ Belvedere, and Schönbrunn/ Hietzing. Great for a focused city break, as each maps features tips and addresses.

The Popout Map is for people like me who encounter some difficulties in folding a map. The self-folding, octagonal shaped map includes two pop-out maps, and additional maps of Schönbrunn Palace, the metro, and the city and subregional railway (S-Bahn). It includes a street index and main places of interest.
