Day Trips From Vienna: Wachau Valley Dinner Trains

Wachau Valley Dinner Trains

By Mike de la Pena

(Shingle Springs,Ca,USA)

My wife and I are going to be in Vienna in mid May. We read about dinner trains that go to the Wachau Valley and would like to get information on these trips if possible. We will be staying at the K&K near the Danube. Also, a Heuriger that you could recommend would be great. This will be our fourth trip to Vienna.

Thanks! -Mike

The dinner trains you may refer to are the luxurious Imperial dinner trains, built in thestyle of the Imperial Habsburg trains. They used to take passengers fordinner excursions to Wachau Valley and other nearby destinations, though the 2013 programme is not officially available yet. Do check their website and contact the operators for further information.
For some tips on Heurige in Vienna’s popular Grinzing and Neustift
districts, check Vienna wineries. If you want to explore traditional
places in other areas I can recommend Heuriger Wieninger in
Stammersdorf (top quality food and very cosy atmosphere),
Herrgott aus Sta in the 16th district Ottakring, and Weingut Zahel
 in the 23rd district Liesing.

I hope that helps. Enjoy Vienna!
