Vienna Christmas Concert for Kids

I think a good concert for your kids is Generation X – A Joyful Celebration, cappriccio! at the Wiener Musikverein, the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. At this interactive concert, singers from various countries such as the US, Switzerland, Germany and Austria present Handel’s Messiah as well as other classical music, up to gospel songs by Quincy Jones, and occasional hip hop beats. Children are encouraged to sing along.

Another very popular Christmas concert among Viennese kids takes place at the Volksoper, Vienna’s most child-friendly opera. Kids love this annual concert because much of the music performed is taken from the children’s opera ‘Hansel and Gretel’, which is traditionally played at Christmas there. Click here for further information and booking details.

Both concerts likely to sell out quickly, as there aren’t many alternatives around. There are a few other Christmas plays though they all include German narrative, which may be boring for your kids. Do let me know if you find this information useful.
