Vienna airport to city transfer

Travel Vienna: What To Do In August

Hi Barbara,

bravo on your wonderful website! I just came across it this pm and have signed up already for your ezines!

We travel (husband and I) on the 25th November to Vienna from Dublin for three days. We are staying in the Astoria (I chose it because it is so central ) Can you recommend Vienna airport transfers using public transport .. I speak some German so once I know which station is nearest to the hotel I can navigate my way there (hoffentlich).

Vielen Dank fur Ihre HIlfe

Vivienne

Hallo Vivienne,

thanks for the kudos about Vienna Unwrapped, I’m always glad people like what I am doing for them 😉

Hotel Astoria is a great choice, you’ll be right in the middle of it all. As for public transport, take the CAT (City Airport Train) (more on that inTrains from Vienna International Airport) to the city terminal Wien Mitte/Landstrasse. This is a 16 min ride. You can buy tickets directly at the CAT counter at Arrivals. If you get the Vienna Card before, you will get a little discount on the tickets.

From Wien Mitte/Landstrasse, take the metro U3 towards Ottakring and alight at the second stop at Stephansplatz. From there, just walk down Kaerntner Strasse until you arrive at Hotel Astoria.

Have a lovely time in Vienna!

Alles Liebe

Barbara
