I’m going from Ireland to Vienna with my wife and two boys (13 and 16). What would be a good restaurant to eat in on New years eve that would ring in the New year nicely?
I don’t mind paying for a good night but don’t want to go for the Gala dinners, which would cost over 600 Euro for the family.
Many thanks
Jim
Hello Jim,
a really lovely and surprisingly cheap place is the restaurant Meierei at Stadtpark. It is adjacent to gourmet temple Steirereck, Austria’s best restaurant, and is located right in the middle of the park. Last year, the four course new year’s eve menu was just EUR 65 per person.
A rather cool place to celebrate New Year’s Eve is the neo baroque cult restaurant and bar Motto. It doesn’t have its new year’s eve menu out, but should do so in the next couple of weeks. Read my restaurant review here.
For great restaurants with a view, check out my recommendations in my guest post New Year’s Eve in Vienna. They will be a little more expensive, though.
Do let me know if you find this useful.
Have a sparkling new year in Vienna!
