We`d like to try some new eateries. We love the Steirereck but it does not need to be expensive all the time! It would be better if your recommendations were quite close to the underground. Any ideas?

Here are a few suggestions for inexpensive eateries that serve Viennese cuisine. They are traditional taverns with honest food and loads of charm.
Gmoakeller (local landmark and one of the oldest taverns in Vienna; awarded Tavern of the Year 2012 by local restaurant guide)
Schnitzelwirt (well known for excellent value for money)
I hope you’ll find these tips useful. In general, Viennese wineries in the areas of Stammersdorf, Jedlersdorf and Strebersdorf (post code 1210) in the North of Vienna offer good inexpensive food and wine. Most of them close over the New Year, though, but you may consider them for your next trip. Here is a link to the local wineries calendar where you can check opening times, as wineries are not always open.
