Hilton Vienna Park: 5-Star Hotel for Wiener Werkstätte Fans

What is it like to stay at the 5 star Hilton Vienna Park hotel, a few steps from Stadtpark? Is it worth spending the bonus points of your Hilton Honors loyalty membership there?

Austria's largest hotel, the Hilton Vienna Park, is located opposite Stadtpark, within walking distance of the historic city center, major shopping areas, and cultural attractions. You can walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral, the State Opera, and the Hofburg Imperial Palace within 20 minutes.

Boasting 663 guest rooms and suites, it offers comprehensive facilities including a restaurant, bar, fitness center, sauna, and over 3,500 m² of event space.

Situated in the famous capital of Austria, Vienna, the Hilton Vienna Park offers modern luxury along with a well executed Viennese touch. Just steps away from picturesque Stadtpark, this hotel isn't merely another huge cuboid, thanks to its thorough renovation in the middle of the pandemic.

Hilton Vienna Park: Wiener Werkstätte, 5 Stars

Hilton Vienna Park exteriorWhen you first cross the doorstep of the Hilton Vienna Park hotel there is something Viennese about the décor. You just can’t quite put your finger on it. In fact, the interior designers took clever inspiration from the Wiener Werkstätte and Secessionist movement: from the lamps in Josef Hoffmann style and bentwood chairs nodding to the Thonet brothers, to Gustav Klimt like gilded glass screens. How can metalwork and geometric shapes create such an inviting space? If you haven’t been to Adolf Loos’ American Bar in Kärntner Strasse, you likely will after spending an evening under the inspiring ceiling of the hotel’s buffet restaurant.

Following on from the lobby and main areas, you can expect the guest rooms to reflect the same Secessionist style design.

According to the designers' narrative the name ‘Vienna’ derives from the Dutch word ‘vedunia’, meaning ‘forest stream’, which informed the studio’s design approach. (Officially, Vienna originates from the Celtic word "Vindobona", meaning "white base" or "white settlement".)

After the extensive 18-month, multi-million-dollar renovation by designers Goddard Littlefair in 2020, the hotel has transformed all guest rooms, restaurants, bars, and event spaces, adding 78 new guest rooms and suites on the 15th floor, bringing the total to 663.

The Rooms: Living Spaces With A View

Vienna Hilton Park: king guest roomRather than a traditional hotel room most of the newly refurbished space feel more like a sophisticated Viennese apartment room. The panoramic park and city views from the upper floors are spectacular. Even if you don't stay in the 100 square metre Presidential Penthouse Suite your hotel room will provide more space than most traditional hotels. And watching Vienna wake up each morning from your window is a treat, like in the King guest room (see photo).

From the newly designed rooms guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Wien River and Stadtpark. Amenities include the largest Executive Lounge in Vienna, offering 24-hour access, private check-in and check-out, complimentary breakfast, and evening drinks in a beautifully designed Art Nouveau space with a sunlit terrace.

The Executive Lounge offers a lovely terrace where guests can enjoy happy hour with drinks while taking in city views.

Although the Vienna Hilton Park is located at busy street Am Stadtpark / Vordere Zollamtsstraße you don't hear any street noise thanks to thorough soundproofing.

One small note: There is no air conditioning, which some guests mentioned in reviews. When planning your stay between June and August, do enquire about a cool room.

Restaurant: Lenz Social Dining

Hilton Vienna Park, Lenz restaurant social diningInstead of large main courses for individual eaters this on-site restaurant invites its guests to try a variety of smaller dishes together with their friends. Like at the local Feinkosterei restaurants, Lenz’ Austro Tapas, serve a selection of traditional Austrian food with a modern twist, along with selected local and international wines
Symbolic of ‘Air’ and influenced by the Vienna Secession, Lenz features a modern style with historical references, such as striking lighting that nods to Josef Hoffmann’s art deco glassware.

SELLENY'S Bar

By day, it serves artisanal coffee and homemade pastries in a relaxed setting, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. As night falls, SELLENY'S transforms into a bar featuring cocktails, a selection of wines, and live DJ performances on weekends.

Gym and Wellness

Since its renovation the hotel’s fitness centre is well-equipped, featuring modern treadmills, bikes, and other strength training equipment, as well as free weights. Whether you prefer cardio workouts or strength training, the fitness centre provides sufficient facilities for a workout.

As for the Hilton Vienna Park's wellness offerings you are in for a choice of massage treatments, sauna access, and other rejuvenating services (subject to availability).
