Restaurants in Vienna: Where To Eat Austrian Food
I am looking for a central Vienna resturant which may serve traditional Vienna food – can you advise, traveling 10th September for 10 days to Vienna.
Hi Mike,
my two favourite traditional restaurants in the city centre are Zu den Drei Hacken, and Gasthaus Hanno Poeschl. They are both down to earth tavern-style places. Then there is Gasthaus Plachutta at Walfischgasse, just off Kaerntner Strasse in the centre, and Plachutta at Wollzeile, which is a little more upmarket but not overly formal.
The reviews you will find via the links will give you a better idea of what to expect from these places. I hope there is something in it for you.
Enjoy Vienna!
Barbara
Since 14 years I connect independent travellers to the pulse of my hometown Wien: by designing bespoke itineraries that allow you to get behind Vienna’s local charm on your own, while covering its key highlights.
Taking you a step further: To apply the insight provided here my local partner guide Claudia and her team take over when you arrive in Wien. From meeting the Spanish Riding School’s Lipizzaner horses backstage and crawling through the attic of St. Stephen’s Cathedral to exploring neighbourhoods where locals still play cards in cafés.
